Why stimulants are typically prescribed
Prescription stimulant medications are generally used to enhance brain activity and are commonly prescribed to treat attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder, or ADHD. They increase the activity of the brain chemicals dopamine and norepinephrine, which will result in alertness, attention, and energy and can be used as a treatment for ADHD and narcolepsy for adults. Some may take natural stimulants in order to improve their mental performance but if not properly prescribed, can lead to dangerous side effects. Please see the side effects section for more information.
